Aaron & Rook subchapter.

on Wed Dec 14, 2016 1:48 am
Aaron walked along the beaten path. Dust being kicked up as he continued his stride. "Hey, Rook. What were you up to when you weren't around?" He would say, looking to his robotic friend. Aaron reached into the napsack that hung on his hip and slipped out a small ball that was rapped in a bright green leaf. He looked to Rook and gave him a warm smile before opening the leaf to reveal a rice ball. Within the center was a large piece of chocolate. "Don't tell anyone but I stole this from the kitchen. Along with some Bananas. Even though you don't eat, I still feel bad for eating in front of you. I was sure to grab something for you though, buddy." He said, slipping a can of oil out of his sack. He handed it over to Rook, taking a bite out of the rice ball.

Re: Aaron & Rook subchapter.

Rook had followed beside Aaron without a single word being shared, it was not the situation they were in that ushered the shortage of words or vocal interaction, but rather the serenity of the path of which they walked. Rook had taken in the natural beauty of the path, lined at brim with cherry blossom that served as a reminder of the condition of which this world was currently in, a world of which Rook would not change or allow someone to ruin for their personal gain or land owning. With a few more miles under their belt, making a great time in their trip to New Mecca, Aaron had seemingly decided it was time for a break as they stopped below a bustle of tree linings, small amounts of sun peeking through and allowing warmth under the density of the forest. He seemed to be in a great mood, based on what he was displaying, with that stoppage came a distribution of snacks and road food of which could replenish them. Aaron had come prepared, something that Rook did not think to pack, considering his lack of hunger that would stop him from continuing forward.

Aaron produced a small rice ball, wrapped in basil leaf and neatly packed together for ease of eating. For a moment Rook thought he would simply sit here and watch Aaron eat, though to his thought, he thought of Rook as well. With the rice ball came a small tin of liquid, to which Aaron admitted he had brought along oil. Rook did not accept it at first, though after a moment his will broke down as he reached across the ground and grab the oil. He brought it up to his mouth, a small piece of his helmet breaking from it's mold as he poured the oil into his body, consuming it in a way, though this would all be filtered inside his body, as produced it would move to an oil pan that would store a small amount of reserve energy that could be used at a time for added effort. Rook would continue to sit there quietly after disposing of the tin can. Awaiting Aaron to finish his meal before they departed.

Finishing his meal, Aaron crumpled the leaf in his hands, making a smaller version of the green ball before the meal. "You know, Rook. There's no reason why we should stress ourselves with getting to our destination too fast. How long has it been since we went on such a venture?" Aaron spoke, lightly punching the robot in the arm. Aaron started to pack up. His blonde hair falling into his eyes once he leaned down. A quick brush of the hand would allow him to see once more.

Sebastian loomed away from the duo, watching closely with his reptilian eyes. His forked tongue slithered upon his cracked lips. He began to speak, with a raspy and unfriendly tone. "I could kill the both of you right now if I wished to. There would be nothing to prevent me doing so. Remember, Aaron.. The contract." As he spoke, his eyes focused on Aaron, watching his movements.

Aaron stood up as the Twilight runner spoke, saying nothing he had a cold glare. It was as if Aaron was silently challenging him to make his attempt. Aaron did not fear this creature the way that Sebastian had wanted him to. For a man that had just died only a short while ago, he did not fear death. He merely saw it as yet another opponent to fight. Aaron scoffed and turned towards Rook, giving him a silent nod as a gesture that would represent the words "Let's go."

A short while after the comments Sebastian had made, Aaron and Rook had began to kick up dust once more. Aaron looked about upon the beautiful landscape that had been introduced once out of the cherry blossoms. Upon his eyes, he witnessed a seemingly endless field where long "feathers" of grass grew to the waist of the average man. There was no path, now. Only a select number of trees and large stones had been the scenery other than the browned grass. It was obvious that they were within the smaller mountains of Japah. These mountains were more similar to hills rather than the Valley of stone that was famous for the large Wattasaki mountain. Aaron thought for a moment about this mountain, remembering the legend that revolved around it. It wasn't anything too important to Aaron, however so the thought was soon discarded. Aaron trampled the grass in his path, closely paying attention to a rather large stone that lie before them quite a distance away. To the naked eye, it seemed to be an illusion at first of a figure sitting upon the stone.

Once close enough, he could make out the distinguishing characteristics of the man. A simple straw hat, a long grey beard, aged skin and clothes in tatters. Before Aaron could say a word, Sebastian closed in to the left side of Aaron. The whispers into Aaron's ear were light yet aggressive at the very same time. It seemed to be commands being issued to Aaron. Perhaps it was a threat yet again?

As Sebastian spoke, the black saliva sprinkled the flesh of Aaron's ear. "Kill him, Aaron. You owe me for realigning your mortal coil. You know it's true, so why don't you end his life to make up for the likes of yours?" The creature's body shifted in such a strange way as it spoke. It was quickly becoming apparent that Sebastian's intentions were not in Rook or Aaron's favor.

Aaron stood there momentarily, as if he were considering the recommendation that the vile creature had delivered unto him. Aaron's eyes were showing no sign of his burning will. It was as if he were in a trance, being the puppet of the creature next to him. Motionless, he stood like a statue, unable to move.

Rook had remained relatively quiet during the duration of the trip, the luncheon aside he was not much to share words or break bread over a casual conversation. Unfortunately the words he would like to share are never available, not keen on word of mouth with those that he surrounds himself. If the words had been available, he would doubt that speaking them would be possible, as much was processing through him at once. He had a long self reflection on the journey they were all taking. It was much like in the past, they have found themselves in a situation very similar to this in the past, the group had been split down the middle so much it seemed as though it was a common occurrence. Each time they proved to prevail, though each time it seemed it took the spirit of those that they traveled, not physically, as in their ranks were thinned by the blemish of death, but rather that of will, spirit and focus. They have faced troubles of high volume, though the act of taking action against the oppressing ruling fist of the Shogun's circle will prove to be their most difficult foe thus far. Rook knew the dangers that would come with this territory, but he knew the Sinister, he knew once their ideals have been placed forward, they would only see linear, a shared common goal and would cease to hesitate until the task at hand was completed entirely. He feared what costs would come for such an ordeal.

If it had not been the voice of Aaron, the processing of his thoughts would come to a halt as they did very well in the middle of the road. It was though they Aaron was shaken as well, both frozen in a time standpoint of which they were attempting to decide the next course of action. It did not take long for Rook to discover the quarry of which they faced, before them, stretched out of shadow from the sun behind the individuals back walked a figure, human in the likes and shape of structure and a walk of ease as though he had yet spotted the two before him. Rook quickly lowered his hand to his lower back, a small swirl of his circle hilt began to spin and prepping his blade to be unsheathed in case of any danger that would come. Rook paused, it was a whisper in the wind as though it sounded, as though another voice were traveling beside them and speaking aloud. A sinister tone, garbled whisper with intent behind it's words.
"Demon" Rook would say to himself, the creature that he had first encountered during the escape from the city, the one who had been present since the miraculous awakening of Aaron within the midst of all the chaos. Trouble, is all Rook took from it's presence.
Rook would divide his attention from the figure approaching them for something of immediate threat, he turned to Aaron with hand still upon his hilt. With attempts to break him from his sudden silence, Rook would do the job for him.

"Aaron" Rook would merely say, his attention now fully upon his friend, ready to defend if something were to spark within the moment.

Sebastian glared at Rook, smiling his insidious grin as always. "Just what will you do, metal man?! Without that shell, you wouldn't even exist. I smell the soul inside of you. It is vile. You try to make up for your past life's transgressions through the actions of this one?" Sebastian laughed loudly enough for the old man on the stone to hear. "There are being that never forget a man's actions. In time, all men pay for what they have done. You are no different..." Sebastian spoke once more, merely inches away from Rook's face.

Within Aaron's mind, the haze had been cleared. He came to his senses to see Sebastian only a few inches away from Rook. "Get away from him, beast." Aaron commanded.

Sebastian turned his head slowly to meet Aaron's. "You do not command me, human." Sebastian's reply filled the now still air. Sebastian attempted to get into Aaron's face which before he could complete the action, Aaron gave him a quick uppercut to the chin. "You filthy human... I will not forget this. Wen the time is right, our contract will be completed." He spoke, looking to the two before once again taking his position in the back. Sebastian knew that with both Aaron and Rook against him, his chances of success in completing the contract would be low.

Meanwhile, Aaron made his way to Rook. "You okay, buddy? I'm not sure what happened last time but if it happens again, I have a solution to breaking me out of it before I'm in that daze for too long. When we get to the closest town, we should get some smelling salts." He said, putting a hand on Rook's shoulder.

Rook's head had turned toward the man who he called friend. "Fine." The vocal integration would leave the body while slightly turning toward the sludge demon that had glared. But once his attention was found once again by Aaron he would question, "Salts?" The humor went over the robotic haul of his.

A simple nod was made from Rook, agreeing with what ever form of salts his friend wanted to get. His hand was resting along the katana he held, the only way it was in reach while still without worry about the creature that was near them. The helm on Rook's head still blocked the optics from connecting with someone behind them, however the senses of the robotic unit could easily prepare for an attack or counter for it.

"Mecca?" It was the word that should get them to progress farther, for this stalemate caused by the entity that had found itself with him and Rook. The easiest path would be to go there and meet up with those who had finally arrived there in New Mecca, but something was saying it was going to be far different than it originally was planned. Because now there was a wild card and Sebastian was that very card. Even if they get there, sometime in the future the creature would most likely do much as he did a few moments ago.

The time of relaxation was over, the sights were still just as peaceful as they were before but now the overall feel that has changed within such a short time was seen between the three. There was a hostility within it, and a very grim one at that. Rook would take a moment before looking around, the distance from New Mecca couldn't be more than a day or two away, but was it wise for Aaron to sleep?
